Well the annoying odyssey of woe is at an end.
After several times cleaning the lens with the correct fluid, also trying a CD cleaner, wiping and lubing the rails etc etc
There was some good improvements after the last clean. Most CDs played well. Some still skipped etc.
Annoying.
On a bicycle ride around the neighborhood to random new places i came across a used goods store and found this Sony CD/DVD player for around $15 (i was able to locate the missing remote used on amazon for abot $7.
I connected it via a coaxial cable to the main system and off we go again.
Enjoying the music once again.
Why CDs when i can use one of the decent daps i have lying around the house as a digital transport?
1). Its fast and easy.
2). Semi old school tactile.
3). The main reason is my children can operate it and learn about music, and gain a love for it.
Repurposed a light wooden box which some Japanese sweets or something came in. To sit above the player to store some CDs. The new player does not give out heat.
